The famous Mt. Bandai is considered one of the symbols of Fukushima Prefecture.
In 1888, a large eruption split Mt. Bandai into two. The base of the mountain features colorful lakes, which contribute to the spectacular view.
There are six trailheads, which welcome many visitors every year during the hiking season.
The Happodai Trailhead is the most popular among visitors.
The trails range in difficulty from intermediate to advanced.
A stunning 360 panoramic view awaits visitors at the summit.
From Mt. Bandai’s summit, it is possible to see not only the surrounding mountains of Mt. Nekomadake, Mt. Adatara, and Mt. Iide, but even as far as Nikko and Nasu.
